Today’s Eio post is on BNC Cables.

BNC connectors, which stands for Bayonet Neill-Concelman, is a connect used with coaxial cables for installations on radios, televisions, computers, or communications devices. BNC connectors come in a bayonet style locking mechanism that attaches into the female receptacle. Once in the BNC female connector, simply turn it to lock, and the device will remain firmly sealed until someone unscrews it. This quick-locking action allows for quick and secure connections and installations, and reduces the risk of disconnections.

According to Wikipedia, BNC connectors have the following main uses:

  • analog and serial digital interface video signals
  • amateur radio antennas
  • aerospace electronics (avionics)
  • test equipment.
  • It is an alternative to the RCA connector when used for composite video on commercial video devices.
